LoopMuse Guide
Loading audio
LoopMuse plays audio you already own. There are two ways to bring a track in:
- Files: tap Files to open the document picker and choose any supported audio file (MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A, FLAC, and more). Files in iCloud Drive, on your device, or any Files-compatible app appear here. On Mac, this opens the standard file browser.
- Music Library (iPhone and iPad): tap Music Library to pick a song from your device's music. The first time, iOS asks permission to access your library. DRM-protected and streaming-only tracks can't be opened; see the FAQ.
Once a track loads, it starts playing automatically.
The transport
- Play / Pause: the large center button. Also works from your Lock Screen, Control Center, and CarPlay.
- Scrubber: drag to move anywhere in the track. The time readout shows your position and the total length.
Looping a section
This is the heart of LoopMuse.
- Play to the spot where your section begins.
- Tap Mark Start. The status line confirms the start time.
- Let it keep playing to the end of your section.
- Tap Mark End. The loop engages immediately and repeats from start to end.
- When you're done, tap Clear to remove the loop and continue normal playback from where you are.
Tips: You can scrub inside an active loop and it keeps looping the same section. The bar under the scrubber shows your marked region at a glance. Marks are set where playback currently is, so if you overshoot, just clear and re-mark.
Using LoopMuse in the car (CarPlay)
LoopMuse appears on your CarPlay dashboard as an audio app.
- Start a track on your phone before or after connecting. The car's Now Playing screen shows LoopMuse and the current loop status automatically.
- Open LoopMuse on the dashboard to see the Mark Start, Mark End, and Clear buttons.
- Standard play/pause and seek work from the car's built-in controls.
For safety, keep interactions brief and your attention on driving.
LoopMuse on Mac
LoopMuse runs on your Mac too, with the same controls as on iPhone and iPad: load a track, mark start and end, and loop. It's handy at the desk with your instrument in your lap.
- On Mac, both Files and Music Library open a Finder window. Browse to any audio file, including songs in your Music folder.
- CarPlay is iPhone only.
Background playback
LoopMuse keeps playing when your screen locks or you switch apps, so your loop continues while you focus on playing or singing along. On Mac, it keeps playing when its window is in the background.
